Yay for Pirates!
Now, if you combine Dren's idea with MIC's, you could have....... future pirates or something, and they could have........ future pirate stuff.
That logic is undeniable.

Wow, neat!
Hmm. Been busy lately, likely to be busy for a while yet, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to work on more kids for a few days. But I'll see what I can do. Looks like my to-do list is:
1. Futuristic Kids
2. Tribal Kids
3. More Pirate Kids (pirate boys?)
4. Change the clothing and/or walk on the RTP kids, then redo the sets I've already posted (e.g. a more sedate girl, a refined boy). I've actually started working on giving the boy different clothes, but so far I haven't gotten very far.
Thanks for the positive comments! (I'm thrilled to see a compliment from you, Meiscool! You're one of the few people on Charas that I see over and over and get to know (and respect) after a while. Glad you like my pirate girls!)
Anyone else tried to put together a new walk or new clothes for the kids? If you post 'em, and they're decent, and I put together the time, I can edit 'em in. It's best if the clothing/walk maintains the same relationship to the head as it does now, rather than doing any sort of overlapping (that is, it's best for the editor (me)...and anyone who wants edits in anything resembling a timely manner).
Hmm, while I'm at it...just how does one
pronounce
Charas
? car-us? char-us? care-us? chair-us? I run up against this problem whenever I try to discuss this with my dad
Now you guys go over to the gaming forum and guess my MIDI, dang it!

Wow, these were easier than I thought. Still not sure about my shading on the bare skin, tho. What think you?

Shading depends on the style you're going for.
I would like to see some children that arn't skipping actually.

Yeah, I've been putting that off...I foresee it to be a difficult assignment. So far I've been working on cut-and-paste and recolors with very little freelance editing, so the chars all continue to have the same feel as the RTP. Branching out from there makes me nervous...but I'll get there once I work up the courage.
The nice thing is, as soon as I work out a non-skipping body, I can go and put all the heads on it, and double my production immediately
RE: Futuristic Kids
Do you mean kids that fit into the RTP futuristic set, the one with nothing but dull colors and plenty of metal?
Does RPGMaker2k3 not have the same charsets that 2000 had? I recall some goats and crocodiles and stuff and I don't see them in the RTP set on my computer. I thought they were standard...am I wrong?

Here we go...boys not in overalls! (Although they still skip, unfortunately...gonna work on that soon.) BTW, near as I can tell from the adult, that line of lighter color near the foot is the pantleg rolled up--and that little detail suits a kid really well.

And some girls, in the same clothes and haircuts. (Ever read Swiss Family Robinson? If these girls look too much like boys and not enough like girls, think about having a girl trying to pass herself off as a boy.... Or twins, of course.)

Hope so
I really haven't seen that many kids around--and the kids I do see are specifically for a set that is a distinct entity, and nothing like RTP.
If I can figure out how to make kids who don't skip, maybe two or three different walking animations total, and different clothes for the girls, and pull a few more haircuts from the RTP set...I think that'll be great. And then the kids in all the cities and towns and villages (and pirate dens) and such will have distinct appearance, instead of the Kid Clones thing. Not to mention that you can have a kid in the party, and a kid who switches clothes for some reason, and even flashbacks of the main characters (or younger siblings of them).

Wow, neat faces! I like 'em. Thanks!
Hey, for the tribal kids, could you post a pic of how those clothes look on a regular adult tribal member? Clothes and hair, or just clothes. That'd help a lot--thanks!
