I Love Maya 7

I have been using Maya 7, a 3D animation program, to make fmvs for my Rpg Maker 2003 game. I thought that I should post some of the frames for the clips. Please let me know how you feel about them.

Not trying to be mean but....you can do better...
It looks like you mostly used primitives. Try boolean shapes or if Maya supports it, meta-balls. Also work on the rendering, you can use primitives if you want but you seriously need to learn how to use Final Gathering to make your renders look better. If your computer is slow, it would take a while to render though...

Okay I think I understand. These are my basic ones, but right now im working on a 3000 (or 3 minute) video clip that is a little more complex. Sorry that i did't meet you expectations.

Not really expectations, just suggestions on making it look better. I'm not sure how timescale is handled in Maya but shouldn't 3 minutes be either 5400 frames if you are doing 30 FPS (29.97 NTSC) or 4500 frames if you are doing 25FPS? How did you get 3000? Also just wondering, on the blue glob of light, are they particles or some kind of volumetric light, or just a glow added on some shapes?
How long have you used Maya?
I don't use Maya but I'm pretty sure it has the ability for Final Gathering and other lighting effects. I use Softimage|XSI but I'm pretty sure any high-end 3D software can do it.
One last thing, make sure on your final render, crank up the poly count, those shapes look a bit blocky.

Maya 7 Information

To be honest, Ive only used Maya 7 for three months. As for the designs, I am kinda in training so these are probably my best. I've tried everything ive could on the blocky look of the Z-Weapon (Picture on the Top) and he always came out that way. As for you light question. The light that is coming for the center of his bosy has an ambient light on it. The reason he looks light that is because of the angle. What is that 3D program that you use, I certainly haven't heard of it. I appreciate having this conversation with you.

Softimage|XSI isn't one of the best known 3D packages but its one of the most powerful. IT is made by the company Avid which makes plenty of high-end software. Softimage is used in making the movie Shrek and other 3D movies. It was bought by Microsoft a few years ago.
Also, Have you ever been here for tutorials for maya?

Actually, one of my high school classes (called EAST) has Lightwave, Softimage, Maya, Solid Edge, and Sketch Up. As well as plenty of other non-3D high-end software. So I pretty much get to play with all kinds of software worth hundreds and thousands of dollars.
