Angelic Awakening, Chapter One

(Thanks to Tears123 for fixing up the title screen)
The Background
'Angelic Awakening' takes place on one of the worlds that orbits the earth in 'Mystic Legends' and 'Axis Saga' called Monervera. A race called angels live there. This takes place after 'Mystic Legends' and 'Axis Saga' and a way to Monervera's been discovered a bit after 'Mystic Legends' and 'Axis Saga' ended. So as usual, humans and humanoid species from earth enter Monervera seeking to take it over for it's abundant natural stores of Ether Energy, The source of which extraordinary feats are performed.
The Story as of now...
'Angelic Awakening' takes place a few years after the war between Angels and the invaders has started, during a sort of cease-fire. However more pressing matters plague the land of Monervera. The world of Ixtanel, the second world orbiting earth has had an unlawful change of leadership, from The Devil Lord 'Feaj' to the Ixtanelian Council of Elders, who unsurped Lilith, Chaos' daughter's claim to the throne. The main character and his unit are shortly taken out of the military and then reassigned as agents to investigate certain matters more pressing than the invaders. Remiel, a human in the lower ranks of the Monerveran Military and his friends Liore, and Eristina are removed from the Monerveran Military and reassigned as agents to investigate these more 'pressing' matters before they boil over and bring Monervera to ruin.
Characters
Remiel
Age: 21
Race: Human
Likes: Food, Sleep, Lazing about, Komachi
Dislikes: Eristina's bossy personality, The Military, Having to put forth an effort.
Weapon: Angelix, a holy blade
Remiel, is not someone you'd expect to be in the military. he's lazy, doesn't have a lot of self confidence, and is rather weak. But fortunately(or unfortunately for him...)He was dragged into the Monerveran Military by his childhood friend, Eristina. mysteriously appearing in Monervera as an infant, he was raised by the previous Arch-Seraph, Anna. Now that Anna is dead, he serves the new Arch-Seraph, Claire, and her husband, Matthew.
Liore
Age:24
Race: Angel
Likes: Order, Serving his country, Training, Curry
Dislikes: Corruption, Treason, Weakness
Weapon: Feria, a spear engulfed in flames
Liore is the calm, cool and collected type. After the death of Anna, he joined the military, in order to make a difference and make sure that Monervera will never fall into enemy hands anagin. He plans to work his way up the ranks in order to place within the elite of the military, allowing him to better protect his country. One could say he is a bit...overzealous in an inconspicuos way. Liore often acts as a mediator for Remiel and Eristina, quelling thier arguments before they get violent.
Eristina
Age: 22
Race: Angel
Likes: Having her way, Money, Picking on Remiel
Dislikes: Liore's obsessive need for order, Komachi, not getting her way, Komachi, Remiel's laziness, Komac-*shot*
Weapon: Silistis, Axe of Water and Ice
Eristina is annoying, loud, bossy, and incredibly rude. She joined the military solely for the glory, and dragged her friend, Remiel into it with her. Although she acts like she cares nothing for Monervera, she does have her moments in which she'll fiercely protect her land with all her strength. She's contantly fighting with Remiel but underneath all that, she see's Remiel as the little brother she never had.
Komachi
Age: 19
Race: Demon
Likes: Teasing Remiel, Cooking, Pranks
Dislikes: Eristina, Betrayal, Ixtanel's council of Elders
Weapon; Devil Scythe, a family heirloom known as 'Fenrir' within her family
Komachi's...an interesting individual...She's playful, funloving, and perhaps even a little sadistic...Under normal circumstances, she would have been an enemy of the Remiel's group. But in a rather strange twist of events, Komachi sneaks her way into the castle, and then into the throne room using Illusion Ether, and then has an unofficial audience with the Arch-Seraph, Claire. As it turns out Lilith, the current 'ruler' of Ixtanel isn't down for the count and has sent Komachi, along with a letter of apology that explained Ixtanel's state of affairs in detail and also mentions that Komachi has been ordered to obey the orders of the Arch-Seraph. So in the end, Komachi end's up joining Liore's unit and travels with them on their investigations.
Mauraldin
Age: 108
Race: Angel
Likes: Training, Teaching
Dislikes: Nothing in particular...
Mauraldin is a former soldier of Monververa of now works as a store owner. It's said that way back in his early days, he was a magnificent soldier and a masterful fighter. His acheivements are even more impressive when you consider the fact that he is a a transbeing, an angel with transluscent wings, which usually indicates that the individual lacks the strength and will necessary to become a high ranking officer. He excels at swordfighting, but it has been a long time since he raised a sword against anyone, so it is unknown what his skill is currently. Mauraldin is a rather pleasant individual, and great fun to be around, despite all the rumors floating around about his past and his family. It should also be noted that he has claims to have a sister by the name of Lydalia, though no one has ever seen her.
Features
Hmm...not much, Angelic Awakening is meant to be a rather short game with an emphasis on story rather than exploration and fighting. As per usual Skie fashion there IS a modified DBS. As well as a Rank Advancing custom menu, and a worldmap location selector.
Battle System
The aim of this battle system was to be simple yet effective, I didn't put hard thought into how so and so would link with so and so and this and that. I just set up something simple that wouldn't be a hinderance to play. *coughmysticlegendscough*
Anyways I'm rambling so on to a brief explanation.
Outburst(Bar under character face) - Your basic Special Attack system with a twist. As you attack you gain Outburst Points, and when the outburst guage in filled you may use a character specific tech to damage enemies, but be wary, all Outbursts past your first one cost EP as well as all your BP, so even if you fill your outburst guage, you may not have the EP to pull off an ouburst attack.
Ether Crystals(Use Ether Command) - All healing, magic, and stat-buffing are done through items known as Ether Crystals. In Monervera Angels use a technique known to them as 'Ether Materialization' to take their inner magic sources and condense them into specific crystals capable of unleashing magic spells. This method is regarded as the best way to use Ether spells without having to waste precious inner ether on them. You must use crystals for everything aside from normal attacks. Spells and healing have limited uses so don't waste everything on one battle. If you're running low, then town areas have materialization shops than you can buy more from.
Defense - By defending, you'll greatly reduce damage, as well as increasing LF by 3/10s your max. But be wary, defending costs BP, so it will take longer to activate outburst if you defend frequently.
Heat Up/Cool Down - By choosing the Heat Up command you will increase the amount of hits your normal attack and your outbursts do. however you lose LF every passing turn at varied rates depending on how heated you you are. The maximum combo you can do is three hits, any higher will not register. Use the cool down command to decrease your combo as well as reducing the amount of LF lost each turn. Once you use an attack or Outburst while heated up, it will revert to 0 again
Enemy skills - some enemies may have annoying and dangerous skills. Skills to watch out for are Multistrike, Smoke Bomb, Reap, and various others. As for what they do? you'll find out. hehe...
Character and Equipment level up system
Once the menu is activated via an event, you'll be able to enter the menu while on the world map. You use this menu to distrubute earned SP amongst your allies in order to advance their skill ranks, strengthen their equipment, and unlock bonus features for characters. A brief Explanation is as follows.
This is the menu interface. You gain SP by defeating enemies in battle. when on the worldmap and the menu is freely available, press 1 to enter the menu and begin. Press left and right to scroll back and forth between characters and up and down to scroll through the options.
AVAILABLE OPTIONS
Advance Rank - Increase a character's rank, earning them a boost to all stats at a cost of 500 SP
Advance Equips - Increase the level of a character's equipment, boosting it's stat increasing output at a cost of 200 SP
Unlock Secondary - Unlock a secondary shield , greatly increasing a character's stats and boosting an elemental resistance at the cost of 1000 SP
Unlock Influence - Unlock a bonus that allows a character to fully resist one status ailment and greatly increase all stats at the cost of 1000 SP

Credits...and Stuff
Story, battle system and all around work - Uhh...Me.
Title Screen - Tears123
Graphics and editing - Lacrima Castle, Charas, various other sources, Me...again.
Coding advice and assistance - Tiki, Rizzn, Guardian
Tips and crap.
1. After the forest, make sure you have a good amount of water and Ice Ethers. You're gonna need them.
2. Don't put ALL your SP into Advancing your characters, you may want to use a Guardian Feather and return to town to Materialize Ethers if it's necessary.
3.The Emperor Phoenix is no joke. Make sure you have lot's of Water and Ice Ethers as well as Healing Breezes. If not, it's Feur Rune attack, as well as it's minions will make short work of you. There's more, but I don't want to give it ALL away.
4.Not really important but take the time to speak with the locals in Amatan before either the Forest or Millunia. They have useful information.

This game was pretty awesome, I recommend people to try it out! I'm not a Riviera fan (That game bored me, actually), but I thought this was pretty fun.

it was really neat. i got up to the after you defeat those ghosts after unlocking the door in the first real dungeony looking place. Its neat how you never actually move the character. I like your story. The curry part was kinda funny. i'll play more when I get the chance.
