Honest to goodness, it is not a comedy game

C-craze. I thought you made RTP games, like that one you were working on.
Warrior World didn't get many replies until I bumped it some time later, and I had some cute sprites laying around that were dying to be used. So, uh, stuff happened.

You didn't make that chipset. It's from Final Fantasy.
And the name of this game is Final Fantasy I-2. OH OWNED

...why the Hell are you making a FF fan-sequel? WHY?
Because I wanted to make a game with a lot of classes, yet be easily understood. You all know what FF is, right? There you go. You don't need to be hand-held through what FIRA does or how to use an ELIXIR. I hate making tutorials. It also gives me a springboard for the graphics; I can base my designs off of pre-existing ideas and make them unique yet similar. The character graphics make a big deal out of typical FF class/magic symbols, to the point where one villain summons the symbols to fight for her!

Battles are custom, right down to the daggers.

You didn't explain the SEQUEL part.
Uh it isn't actually a sequel. I just wanted to call it FFI-2.

So, character graphics... for the CLASSES OMG!!!!!!


Paladins and Dark Knights are both of the Alien race.

There are twelve classes in the game.
MELEE-ORIENTED

Dark Knight-- Wields big weapons to deal big damage, uses weapon skills to destroy enemy stats, and casts limited time magic to lower defenses. If you have a Dark Knight with the proper time magic and the sidequest-gained elemental attacks, you will easily be able to slaughter the most heavily-defended enemies. An excellent class for players that want to play with stats a little but don't want to take care of a mage.

Paladin-- Big hammers? Check. Healing magic? Check. Lots of HP? Check. The ultimate tank, Paladins can dish out as much damage as a Dark Knight and stay alive for a long time. They have expensive upkeep to keep them as strong as a Dark Knight, however, and gain weapon skills more slowly than the other armored class. Perfect for people who want some extra healing or just a plain ol' tank.

Master-- Bam bam bam bam bam bam! Wear those gloves with pride! Masters dish out incredible amounts of damage, especially when using their special Chi abilities. The downside is that they can only equip the weakest armors and only deal physical melee damage, but even that is nulled somewhat due to their increased resistance to status effects. If you're willing to fight the optional bosses to power them up, this is a good class for any party.

Chemist-- ...chemists? In my Melee-Oriented section? Totally. They can equip almost anything, and their only skillset is ATTACK THE ENEMY WITH WEAPON. That is, at least, until you start to meet Espers on your travels. Convince them to turn into Magicite and soon your Chemist will be doing incredible elemental damage to the enemies for absolutely no MP! Sure, you can only use each Esper once per battle, but who doesn't want the eventual ability to heal for free or double an ally's stats for eight turns? If you can deal with the initial lull in interesting skills, these hot mommas will fire you up. Oh, and they automatically heal more from Cure spells!

ROGUE-ESQUE

Thief-- Well, duh. Wait... it can't steal items? What? Oh, it just eats enemy HP and casts powerful dark magic and poisons enemies and silences mages and paralyzes those stupid reduce-you-to-one-HP-coeurls. Not a terribly important class, even though they get unique weapons that let them equip a buckler let still combo attacks. Not a good class at all for anybody.

Ninja-- DUAL-WIELD WEAPONS WHILE BLASTING AWAY WITH ELEMENTAL MAGIC AND KILLKILLDIEDIE. Eastisms aside, Ninjas kill things quickly. They are somewhat frail but rival the Master in ability to deal damage (and has a more varied range of attacks-- dark, fire, ice, bolt, melee, thrown; all available at once). They also gain some of the Thief's special skills but the skillset is very, very slow to develop and extremely limited. Ninjas are the go-to class for anybody who always wants to be able to hit anything. Their black magic wears out around -ga spells, however.

Bard-- If you thought the Dark Knight messed with stats, you haven't seen the Bard. Bards and their harps almost always hit the entire party or all enemies. Their Jazzy Jig can add hundreds of damage points to a mage's spells and the Healer Hustle can make up for an MP-drained primary healer. A great utility class.

Scholar-- A... unique class. They mix the martial art of Chi with the elaborate defenses of time magic, creating a robed class with really, really, really big boobshair. I guess you could call them Mastermages or Timesters or Wierdos. They have respectable stats, most notably a high base DEF and the highest MGC in the game. They are immune to behavior-altering effects (they are very studious).

Mages get some really awesome facesets.

COLOR/DIMENSION MAGES

White Mage-- They heal.

Black Mage-- They deal fire, ice and bolt damage as well as casting Sleepga (put the enemy party to sleep), Mute (silence an enemy), Break (actually the "Stop" effect, stronger than Paralyze) and Rub (try to inflict Sleep, Break and KO). They look really cool.

Red Mage-- They do what the above two classes do, just with low MP and no access to the reallyreallyreally good spells. Possibly over-powered!

Time Mage-- If doing insane damage is your goal, you NEED a Time Mage. Of course, they don't do the damage until late-game Meteor and X-Zone spells are found. Time Mages simply destroy enemy resistances while Hasting and Protecting your party. Their STR is decent, as well. A Time Mage and a Bard can easily make your party oblivious to attacks as they gain skills!

Okay, so there are classes. Who are the actual characters, Craze?

Good question!

FANGBANE, reclusive illusionist and master manipulator

Mrs. HERMAN, time mage with a desire to absorb souls

The FOUR SOULS, enigmatic and reanimated bodies driven to somehow survive

ZUKAHN, eldest elf knowledgeable about Crystals

The FIVE CRYSTALS, grand gems that bestow mystic protection to Time, Poison, Titans, Lycans and Wyrms

QUINN, dark rogue destined to destroy the Crystals

Princess FIASCA, young leader of a Crystal-abusing city

You play as the FOUR SOULS versus almost everybody else.


Souls can take on many forms!

So, like, where will I able to go in the soon-to-be-released demo?
You start out in GROUNDSWELL, an elven outpost turned paranoid between a secret deep underground and an eye-to-eye bandit that thinks he's a necromancer. From there, you find yourself visiting refugee-laden OSTRAC and climbing the TELETOWER with its moving walls, possibly controlled by a mysterious puppetmaster. You are teleported near the ninja village of KHALM and have the opportunity to wander the WATER CAVES and WAYFARING DESERT. The primary goal, however, is to travel through the switch-filled SERENE TUNNEL to end up near the kooky mage/alien city of AILHEIM.

After chasing away Mrs. Herman, you'll delve into the DIAMOND CAVERNS in order to collect the mistress's power source: the time crystal, guarded by an expansive maze and about ten thousand clocks.


GIANT ENEMY CRAB! HIT THE WEAK POINT FOR MASSIVE DAMAGE! RIIIIIIDGE RACER! Also, the crab is falling from the ceiling which is why it is in a very odd place right now.

(I have yet to do the following:) The exiting of the crab-infested cavern will leave you near LE PALACE ACADEMIE, a grand area led by Princess Fiasca... supposedly. You'll get a special object from her and explore the ELTUNNEL to reach the ELVEN WOODS and speak to Zukahn about the ETC (Energy Transfer Catalysts) that are being worked on underneath the palace... unless something terrible happens.... .... ...... . . .  .   .    .       .          .

Then the demo will end!


SOME TIME LATER


Hi. I really, really don't like making this game. I am releasing what I have so far--which is a substantial amount, don't get me wrong--but I don't want to touch this game again. I don't know why, but I can't really force myself to do anything other than mapping even though my personal game-making habits (work on it for at least ten minutes every day, but not the same thing you did yesterday) usually make me able to work on a project for a long even if I don't release anything (I have fifty hours worth of projects that you have never even seen screenshots of!).

Feel free to use all of the resources for your own use. The FF midis and remixes are from across the web, so whatever. The graphics are either from FF1, KH:CoM (battle animations) or made by myself. Some of Ocean's animations and whatnot are floating around in there, too. If you use anything with FFI2 in the filename, please credit Craze.

Everything mentioned in this topic is complete, though it gets sketchy near the end of the Diamond Caves and the difficulty starts to get screwy. Sorry, but again... I can't stand working in rm2k3 anymore.

Whatever. Go nuts while I e-cut myself. Feel my virtual blood (I am not a RL cutter btw).

1. Why in God's name do people find it acceptable to joke about self injury? Joke about emos, attention whoring, yeahsurefine, but really, grow up.
2. Hate to say it, but it does look crappy. That might just be that NES style graphics tend to be fugly if not done just right. Some intriguing story elements that would be difficult to follow through on. I don't blame you for not wanting to work on it-- it's a lot of work, and you really have to care about it. If not, what's the point? It would be one thing if it were anything but a silly hobby thing, but if you don't give a crap, then by all means, dump it.

My God, some of you guys are the reason rpg making went from being fun to "oh no, i can't just do it this way, i gotta please everyone!" If you're gonna talk big, learn some ****ing C++, make your own graphics and create a game from scratch. When you do that, then you can feel free to call someone else's work ****. Otherwise, take these for what they are: pieces of entertainment. Hobbies.

I'm loving the weird sirreal battle backgrounds. I like the way you act. It looks nice. You've made some of the resources yourself. Best of luck and stuff, looks really cool.

I liked the battle backgrounds as well. They look incredible original and the monsters were swell as well.

I'm not too fond of the battelcharacters and the charsets though. But the facesets look cool, although a bit odd.

And, yes. You said that this was a serious game? Yet, it doesn't quite look like it with that title and some of the maps. And the charsets look a bit too detailed and big for FF1 tilesets.

Just my thoughts though.
