This is the project Ive been working on for a long time and just revisited.

I'm currently working on both games at once because they use the same database structure in both games, though the second game is much longer.

Progress overall: Maybe 5%?
Concept: 50%
Story: 60% (Rough details in places that need to be patched up.)

Data overall: 30%?
Monsters: 5%
Stats system: 95% (what's left is programming it)
Characters: 25% (other 75% consists of story elements. I have all the characters.)
Classes: 50% (other 50% is programming, descriptions, and skill and magic sets.)
Jobs: 50% (other 50% is programming, descriptions, and skill and magic sets.)
Items: 75% (missing all the food )
Weapons: 25% (swords, daggars, two-handed swords, and katars done.)
Equipment: 0%
Key Items: 0%

Features:

• Massive level base. Max level of 999 for monsters and hero characters with smooth game play and a smooth (non-steep) leveling curve.
• Expansive storyline and world map surpassing 60 hours with all side quests with both games connected.
• Side battle view CBS with real time battle gauges.
• A CMS with massive options and possibilities.
• Think you can defeat me? Think again! AI that gets tougher (or weaker) if you're not at or at a certain level or if you're using too many skills or magic.
• An excellent in-death stat building system where every story character is different no matter how many times you play through the story. The stat system also is used on monsters as well, although their stats are fixed by level.
• A robust job system that is based on your character's race,gender,and class (more on this later).
• Inter-connectivity between the first game and the second but not second to first. (see note on story structure)
• Weapon, item, and armor crafting systems
• A Cooking system with over 50 different items to be made.
• Over 1000 items, weapons, armor, etc. Close to 2000 but not promising.
• Skill and spell database based off the storyline: Legend of the Hero.
• New! A skit system!

Screens, resources, etc:
I don't have much to show since I'm still in the development stage. I have to work on the skills from the main written story and come up with very weapon item and equip in the game.



Music and Sound:
I converted all of the Music I will be using in both games to MP3 from midi so far. It will be naturally huge in terms of file size.
I will be using music from various sources mostly from VGmusic.com and our very own charas-project.net and also RPG2k3 rips here and there. I use the best of the best hailing form Nintendo, SquareEnix, Capcom, and fellow game makers like DragonBlaze, Weerd Thing, Vidian, FaustVX, Coastercrazy, Aliacram, Glitchhog, drendrin2120, myself and many more. I edit other users music or music produced by others to make it sound better in mp3 96-128 bit format. don't ask for original compositions. I am not musically inclined except for whistling a made-up tune.

Demos:
If possible, I could make a watered down demo using rpgmaker2003, but since I doubt I have a copy of it anymore... you know the rules...I'm out of luck and so are you!

Please help: Also I would want to know if I could create a map making system just like RPG2003's for my game using C.

My world map of my own design: basically a bunch of nicely put together tiles that work 100%. Go ahead test it if you don't believe me. I also fix other peoples' chip sets.



Kagemarou towns and villages: I think it belongs to someone here that had a lot of Japanese style chips and sprites. Please pm me if you know who that is.

- 5000 items? Unless they'll be like Broadsword I, Fire Broadsword I, Fire Broadsword II and etc, I cannot see that being a reality.
- A max level of 999? Are you going to hack rm2k3 in order to do this? Or since you said you don't have rm2k3, do you even know how to code in anything else?
- A CBS...hmm...If you're not using one of the RPG Makers, this is kind've a no duh. I wasn't away other programs HAD a default battle system.
- CMS...see above comment on CBS.
- 100 different items to cook? Do you even know of 100 differing recipies for different foods?
- Excellent in depth stat builder? How do we know it's excellent?
- No second to first interactivity...This one speaks for itself.
- 60 hours with both games and all side quests? Heh, not if you plan on including everything else it wont be.
- You're actually going to put, on paper, 5000 differen items, the 100 different items that will be cooked, 60 hours worth of story, all the monsters and everything else?

Is this the game you're coding by yourself, without a specific maker?
If so, then good luck, this is going to be a living hell
If not, then I'm heavily agreeing with Dragoon, because you're being mega-ambitious

Yeah I haven't posted much I have only typed databases (in word and excel) of most stuff. I haven't programed anything yet.

I do know basic, but not much. Its been a while since I used it and taken that class.

The second game can't go to the first because of the chronological order of the written story that between them.
Also because of the second having much more areas than the first, more monsters, etc.

Legend of the Hero time line is as follows:

RPG I ends in 1984 (Earth Year) in the game's world.

Note: The written story only takes place on Earth.
Written Story Part 1 Begins in 2004 ends in August 2005.
Written Story Part 2 Begins in Summer 2006 ends in August 2006.
Written Story Part 3 Begins in Third quarter of 2006 ends in 2007.
Written Story Part 4 Begins in 2023 ends in 2024.

RPG 2 begins 2 years after Part 4 and takes place in both worlds ours and Semathia.

It's like going back to the past. Though that would give me a idea if all of this works first.

I'd love to hack rm2003 (would make this all easier).

Yeah 100 cooking possibilities looks kinda hard. I was thinking 10 recipes per cooking level. May have to condense it to 5 per level for a total of 50. There is only so many ways you can cook beef.

5000 items, equipment, etc looks possible (this is a total btw). I'm up in the mid 490's now with weapons, healing items, crafting, and food ingredients alone. I only am at the katars (for assassin). Key items would take up 2% since both games are using one database. This might seem bad since you could hack the first game and get weapons that don't exist yet (as in the current time frame).

The stat and paramater system is like this:

Every level up after lv 1 you get a set amount of stats points [spoiler]In document: How to figure out character and monster stats. (Further Spoiler warning!!)[/spoiler] that are able to be spent on your character's 10 parameters:

VIT: Vitality. This stat raises your max HP and partially your defense.

INT: Intelligence. Affects the base attack power of magic attacks and raises your max MP.

MND: Mind. Affects the base attack power of Class attacks and raises a character’s max ESP.  Also affects the effectiveness of support and status magic.

STR: Strength. Affects your attack power for physical attacks and increases your inventory weight for the party as a whole. Also slightly raises your max HP.

DST: Defensive strength. This stat affects your Defense (DEF) against physical attacks and physical Class skills.

CON: Affects your Magic Defense (MDEF) against Magic attacks and elemental Class skills

DEX: Increases your accuracy when attacking and affects attack power of bow and gun attacks. Also affects # of hits slightly and cast time.

AGI: Agility. This stat increases your max # of hits per attacking round.

LUK: Luck. Affects chances of landing a critical hit and slightly increases dodge rate. This also decreases your chances of getting a critical on you. <haven't figured this out 100% yet.

CHA: Charisma.  Affects max Job Points and personality-based skills such as persuading people to do something. Also affects chance of a tamer class to get a monster companion. < Nor this!

Major stats: these are the stats that are affect by all 10 or some of the 10 parameters above. I've eremoved formulas from here for cleanliness.

HP: This is your max Hit Points. This is your life force and when it runs out, you are dead.

Max HP: Your max HP.

MP: This is your max Magic Power or MP. This allows you to cast various spells associated with either your class or job. Once they run out, you can’t cast spells anymore.

Max MP: Your max MP.

ESP: ESP is elemental skill power. This is used to use/cast various elemental class skills and spells. Once it runs out you can’t use those abilities no more.

Max ESP: Your max ESP.

JP: Job Power is used to attack with various skills you learn in a specific job. When you run out of this, no more job skills can be used.

Max JP:  Your max Job Power

MATK: Magical Attack Power. Affects Magic attacks. This is affected mainly by your intelligence stat.


EATK: Class Elemental Attack power. Affects class skills and magic. This is affected by Mind more than INT. Not used in monsters’ stats. They don’t have a class!

DEF: Defensive power. This is affected by Armor Defense values and your DST and VIT.

MDEF: Defensive power against magic. This is affected by armor values, CON, and INT.

Dodge: The chance of an attack to miss you. This does not affect magic. It is affected by AGI and DEX and luck.

Accuracy: The chance of your physical attack not missing. This doesn’t affect magic. It is affected by DEX and AGI by 1/5.


# of hits/attacks (for monsters): Denotes how many hits you’ll do per attacking round. This is directly affected by agility and by accuracy. DEX has a part in determining both and this as well.

Weight: this is affected by Job level, the job you have and Job skill effects, base level, and total strength.
In a party of 6: the total weight of your inventory is determined by all members’ weight combined. If in the event of a party change, job change, or other factors and the total weight happen to exceed the maximum, extra items will be automatically stored in your bank. Nothing will be lost. Items found in treasure chests and other places will not be sent to the bank and must be put back in their container you found them in.

Critical: Chance of landing a critical hit on an enemy. This is affected by your luck (LCK) stat.

Jobs:

Jobs are as follows: Taken from my word document. They are your secondary skill base.

If you're doing this all on your own, I'm not holding my breath for it to get done. You'll probably get a good deal, then think "If I did this in C++, and had my own graphics, I could sell this. I'm doing too much work to do it for free."

And then you'll find redoing it all in a more complex way boring, and give up.

The pasting text here was a bad idea. This topic is so badly put together.

Characters have not just their parameters and major stats such as HP and MP. They also have non battle affecting traits that move the story along or affect the job they will get or the quests your party can take.

Face set: the face of the character.
Has a mood element that will change depending on the situation in and out of battle.

Name: the character's name. Nothing all too special.

Level: The character's level. Increases as he or she gets more exp. Gives more stat points the higher the level (see document).

Rank: The rank associated with their level. Its just an visual thing.
It is used in quest success rate for characters not in the party.

Class: The character's class. This affects Max Weight, Max HP, MP and ESP and what jobs they can be. There are four different classes, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Job: Their profession: affects the secondary skills learned and what stats affect what. Also has small bonuses to HP, MP, and Weight as well.

Job level: Shows how well the character has mastered his or her job. Also tells you how many Job skill points you have in total (J. level -1).

Element: The character's affinity. They can have up to two of 14 elements and must have a physical alignment for their third.
They are as follows:

Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Ice, Lightning, Light, Dark, Physical, Metal, Time, Matter, Illusion, Sound and Spirit.

Age: Their age.

Sex: The gender affects weight limit and job choices.

Race: The character's race. There are 10 character races with some sub groups in the game. Besides all this, some races are more vulnerable to certain weapons than others and can only equip certain equipment/weapons.

The story behind the game:

The story is what I think you all been asking for: I will try my best here since I am still writing the story for parts 1-4. But the first game is what starts it all.

Legend of the Hero
The RPG I: Rise of Zurik:

This tells the story of the the father of the main character in the writings. It goes through his quest to overthrow an empire bent on taking over his world and finding the people responsible for bring war to his home town and country and burning it to the ground and killing his family and his friends' families. It also gives more insight to the history of Semathia (the game world) and much of the mythos behind the whole story in general.

It sets in motion the events for the written story, but it doesn't have to be played to understand the written story for I reexplain in less but sufficient detail what happened beforehand in the written story.

Legend of the hero The RPG II: Return of Zurik:

This follows right after Part four of LotH: The fall of a nation.

Since its been 50 years or more after the event of the first game so much has happened. The villians in the written story having been ran out from Earth, have been making a name for themselves in Semathia and have brought the world's people to their knees causing a deja vu of sorts from the first game (without the cliched revenge part). You'll take the roles of the characters form the main storyline in this massive RPG that spans two worlds and a new underwater water realm.

If you completed the first game and waited till the credits end, you can use a code created from everything you've done and transfer most of your items, equipment (some exceptions) and all the characters that survived to the current time frame with adjusted levels and stats. Also you'll be able to play the true ending dungeon that you can't open otherwise that has the hardest monsters and bosses in any game ever seen. Can you say over 90000000?

I just finished my summaries of the games above. I know I can't tell too much info because I also have to write this stuff (parts 1-4). The games and story are too intertwined to not be done in tandem. If I do start the programming phase, it will be the first game no doubt I'll start work on first.


Game 1 was actually being worked on a few years back on the rpgmaker 2003, but I had map tree corruption and database corruptions.

Part one I can write to its fullness. I had it almost fully written at one time. Until I lost all my work. I have a huge capacity for remembering almost the whole story and reciting it.

I have to warn you guys though, Its going to be a very mature game with lots of swearing and maybe some sexual themes. I even have some face sets in mind that deal with that area.

Hey u shouldn;t care wat the others think- i reckon its a pretty good idea- ive never got that big a scale of game but time and time again will try an ambitious project- ending in some programming errr which drops all my hope and leaves the proj a half-done waste of space on my hard drive. if u really wanna do it why not fond some accomplices? anyways don't give up!

Yeah first I need to learn C which won't be until next spring right now (looks at college classes). I can only work on the story and characters and stuff.

Yeah now that I think about it 5000 is too high. I didn't even make as much sword type weapons as i really thought. It should be at least under 2000 items weapons and equips.

The crafting system isn't too great. I'll just have it so you don't have to buy certain store weapons and items.

Why buy potions when you can make them?
