Well, they're just overracting. Nothing about it said that you're going to hell for that, so I'm really confused here. Since, being a scientist is rather vauge (with there being severak different types) and it doesn't really interfere with you're beleifs or anything.

He's an idiot, than. It doesn't really matter to him how much knowledge you contain. Afterall, the universe is nothing more than an massive puzzle that's waiting to be solved. Many people, including myself, are quite interested in alot of scientific topics, but we're Christian and read the bible. So, I think he's just stereotyping that every scientist out there is an atheist waiting to disprove the bible. Which isn't really true.

I'm not the rigid condemning Christian type obviously. The failure in Christianity is not the word, but the people using as a device of fear. This is however not it's intention. In other words, they are not understanding it well themselves.

Well, as many people like them, they don't actually seem to read it themselves. There is NOTHING saying that you will burn in hell for being a scientist or philosopher. They're just making up crap because they have a negative view on their little understanding of scientists.
