BOT WARS: A new hope
« on: October 02, 2010, 01:17:49 AM »
Hey guys. I put my admin boots back on for one last stint to  mess up some bots.
Ive enabled a very basic and default Image Puzzle Captcha, that get this...WAS HERE AND INSTALLED THE WHOLE TIME BUT SET TO 'Disabled"
So yeah. New members have a small image puzzle in addition to the 'security' question
We should begin to see a dramatic drop in our bot posts.

IN THE CASE OF FURTHER BOT POSTS

because bots and forums are constantly outsmarting each other, even fairly reliable anti-bot devices like reCaptcha can sometimes be bypassed.
The image puzzle feature now in place may just do the trick, but in case it does not, I have downloaded some additional security measures for our humble little forum.
If you see a bot post, dont reply to it.
This is now a Rule (Or will be within a few minutes) in All of all and test/welcome, as this seems to be where they like to strike.
Instead of boosting your post count by replying to the bots (and consequentially giving them more keywords to bring further bots in with....retards)  Come here, and post a link to the thread. Myself, or another Global mod or admin will be glad to lock or delete the topic as seen fit.

On an unrelated note.
Everyone welcome Lucas-Irineu, our newest All of All moderator!
