Long ago deep in the lands of (can’t think of name yet) there was great strife. The Barbaric hordes of Gorbad mailfist had just invaded the lands from across the seas and had caused havoc upon the isle. The great and noble king Guardurien defeated them and he and his knights drove the invaders back into sea from where they had come. But all was not well. King guardurien had changed. He was no longer a noble and valiant man; he withdrew into himself and became increasingly bitter and angry. No one knew what had happened. It was whispered that evil barbarian sorceries had taken him and corrupted him. Others said that the very demons had come for him. No one knew and no one could reach his soul. One day it began the king and his knights set about the isle and destroyed everything in their path. The mighty horde of king guardurien was wreaking havoc throughout the land. This corrupt king slew all that apposed him, people left right and centre fell before him. This could not continue, the land was dying. The energies of the lands inhabitants were being drained away as he slew them and the land was becoming a shadow of its former self. The gods themselves decided to act they tried all they could to reach King Guardurien but it was too late to save him. They had to destroy Guardurien before the very land died; truly it was powerful magic’s affecting him indeed. Even guardurien could not face the wrath of the gods. He pleaded for his life when confronted by him, yet the gods showed no mercy and he was struck down, wreathed in flames as eldritch energy coursed through him. But his soul could not be destroyed as no soul can. It lingered in his blade. The gods noticed the pure power emanating fro the blade and decided it should be locked away for all eternity lest it fall into another mortal’s hands.
      It was decreed that the 4 power fullest mages of the land should work together in locking away the blade. They crafted a vault deep in the highest peak of the world’s spine mountain. The help it deep underground, where they thought it was safe. The crafted 4 keys that were needed to unlock the door, but this effort left them weak and one by one after there monumental service they died, leaving there keys in their homes. The land healed and all was forgotten over time. New kings came and went and the land was prosperous. But the blade was still legendary as it fell into legend which all assumed it was.
      It was a dark day when the barbarian warlord Charka Mailfist arrived upon the shores of ().  He was a descendant of Gorbad and he had heard the tales of his ancestor’s actions and the very blade that was locked away. He was determined to find it. His army overwhelmed the people having long given up war and either killed or made slaves. Any resistance became isolated to the very furthest reaches of the island and all hope seemed lost. And the day became worse when charka learnt of the powerfullest item in all the lands location, Guarduirens blade and now he seeks the keys and the location of the vault.
       The gods had known all along of this act and decided that one man should save the island. That person is you. You are the chosen one, the one who will save your people and your king, but most importantly find the blade and save it from charkas horde. You must go and see the wisest man in the village. Go and seek me out in the hills, find me king guardurien and I will tell you how to save the isle.
