He tried to talk to them evenif he could not vocally speak at all.
And he pray.

Pope John Paul II was a good and admirable man. You don't have to be a Christian to understand that. The stances he took on things, mainly other religions... read your history books and see how many Popes made an effort to reach out to other religions and end the suspicion and hatreds. That kind of view alone is ridiculously radical. You may not understand it here, but he may have taken the few steps along a path that effects billions of people worldwide.

Razor: The "reason" Catholics did not want him to die is because he was such a great man. His death was inevitable and it is good that his pain has been eased, but he was far more useful alive. While they are overjoyed that he is going to heaven, here on Earth he made the Catholic church look a whole lot better.

Even if you don't believe in God, even if you don't believe in organized religion, and even if you are not upset over his passing, at least pretend to show a little respect for a man of his deserved honor.

There was not only christans praying for him.
He finally stopped suffering, this isn't a bad news. Finally he is with that God he always served, which is the God of everyone.
That God which is a presence everyone can feel, no matter if you name it God, Allah, or whatever.

Obviously i'm sad, but i think he did well what he was sent to do in this world. We simply have not to forget what he always tryied to teach us.

I don't know why a lot of you guys are arguing...That should be the last thing to be doing at a time like this. Right now should be a time for remembrance of all of the good things that Pope John Paul II did. He was suffering badly, and now, even though it's quite sad, he's in a better place. He can finally rest in peace, and no longer has to suffer. It's just like when my grandmother was dying...There wasn't arguing in that thread, there was sentimacy (which I thank you guys for that, it helped a good bit). I'm not Catholic, but Pope John Paul II was a great man, and will definately be remembered. Everyone should have a small moment of silence for him, whether you're religious or not (just as Sai'Kar said) simply because he was a great man.
