What kinds of chipsets, by chance, are you looking for? Because I'm thinking about trying to fill the void for futuristic/modern chips and I wanted to see if there's any overlap in what you need and what I want to make.

potted plants, minimalist setting, floor lights etc.

Also, random question, but what's the best tool for recording my game which captures sound and displays
a decent framerate?

Okay, if you can find an existing chipset to serve as a jumping point (Chipsets take eons to make from scratch) and some pictures that portray roughly what you want, I'll see if I can help.

Here's a basic idea:

There's a small patch of homemade chipset that I did in the middle. The rest is someone else's chipset.
So feel free to replace all the grass etc. There's also some drawings showing the general idea of what I'd like.

They're actually exactly what I'm looking for. However, this'd stop the game being completely
custom! What do I do? I didn't want to use game sprites.

I'd just use what Lonewolf has for now and make custom chipsets when you really need them (ie. there's literally nothing out there that matches what you need).

But the chip obviously doesn't have everything you need. I can tweak it to add the scientist portraits, electric doors, LCD screen, etc. It'll be a lot easier than starting from scratch, and it'll be at least partly custom. How's that?
