Update
Not much has been going on here at charas, and that is saddening. However, big changes may be seen in the future!
Long time member DragonBlaze has returned (que fanfare) and is talking about what changes can/should be made to charas to expand it and improve it. With enough support, this place may thrive again, so I highly recommend you at least read through this and post your opinion.
New contests may be coming soon. If you have any ideas or opinions of what you'd like to see, post them here. At the moment, I would like to make this contest something having to do with the forum itself (IE, make something to improve the forum, and then a set of judges will comment on it and rank you). This might be ranged from making a tutorial to making something for the charas generator to creating a RP to making a successful forum game to posting a topic for your own game/art/etc. Be creative and helpful at the same time.
Ephiam has completed his most recent RPGM2003 game, and it can be seen here: http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=28385.0 . Thus far, good reviews have been seen for the game. If you enjoy playing retro styled games, give this a look.

Newsiscool: Beginning of August
Not much new this month from last, other than the massive change in the forum's look.
Bugs are being worked on (presumably).
Thus far since my last news update, there have been a few community activities. First one that I want to note is my own release of a VERY SMALL demo of the game I am trying to find time to screw around with. The link: http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=28429.msg376724;topicseen#new
The game tries to push rm 2003 to its limits using complex mathematics (cosinus, modulus, whatevas) and picture based movement. Give it a lookie.
Still worth a mention, moosetroop11 has released an updated version of his own game. http://www.charas-project.net/forum/index.php?topic=28308.0 is da link. Very few comments on it so far (and I equally share that sin with the majority of people on here) so let's sjpw him some love huh?
As for MIContest 2, it has been a month practically and no entries, so I'm going to cancel it unless someone objects otherwise. I've tried kicking it many times, and disappointingly not much life is in it.
Got anything you want added on here? Let me know! BTW my bday is in 4 days

For those that are not aware, we've had some events here at the forum that could make a bigger splash.

By clicking there, you will be directed to a topic about a game being made by Moosetroop11. The game is in its very early stages, but has not received very much attention. Moosetroop11 is a very dear and longtime member of the forum, as well as the winner of several story/text-based contests held here at charas. His game (if and when completed) will be sure to have plenty of laughs with original and excellent dialog.
Speaking of contests that Moosetroop11 has won, the MIContest 2: Part 1 ended a few weeks ago with Moosetroop11 being crowned the winner by judges Archem2 and myself. MIContest 2: Part 2 is now open with no entries as of yet, and will be open for as long as necessary. A few people have already stated that they are working on their entry, so hopefully the turnout of contestants will be higher than the 5 people that entered Part 1.
Speaking of MIContests, I would like to state here that I am cancelling MIContest 3 as of the moment. My work schedule has changed, making hobbies like game making a little less available. Sorry to Prpl and Lucas, who bother entered a character and seemed excited about the idea. I will be posting another MIContest 3 shortly; one that doesn't involve making an entire game myself ^_^

Felix-0 has been laboring hard to bring the RPGM 2000-2003 RTP to life in block form. His texture edits range from the environment to GUI to character designs to armor and monsters. Give it a try if Minecraft is your sort of thing.

New Forum Version!
Good news: We've successfully updated to SMF 2.0.2! This will allow us to use more recent SMF addons and help protect us against vulnerabilities in the older SMF versions.
Bad news: The old theme doesn't work with the new SMF, so Charas Blue will be gone for the moment. We'll be working on getting a better-looking theme shortly. In the meantime, ignore our terrible standard SMFness.
Most importantly, let us know if you find anything broken with the new forum. You can PM myself or lucas and we'll jump on it.
